Faith Promise Costa Rica || Knoxville TN Mission Trip Photographer
This week marks two years that I’ve committed to serving on the mission field as a mission trip photographer for non profit organizations. If you would have told me on my first short term mission trip that I would go on a total of five trips in the next two years I would have laughed, because that was not my plans. You see my first trip was to do nothing more than check something off my bucket list. I know, I know, what a horrible reason to go! Checking something off a bucket list is not a reason to go on a mission trip, but thankfully God had different plans!
My heart has grown in so many ways, my life has changed all the same. Who knew I’d have a hunger to serve people I don’t even know, to love people who can’t even speak the same language as me and to learn to be malleable in situations that are out of my comfort zone. My heart swells just thinking about all the wonderful souls I’ve met in the past two years on the mission field. Funny thing is when I first started I thought I’d be giving more than I received, I was so wrong! The blessings and teachings I’ve received are more than I can even comprehend.
Last week I arrived back home from our international church in Costa Rica. Serving at Faith Promise Costa Rica was such an joy! It was so neat to be in a different country serving with my church family from Knoxville. I love how our Faith Promise Costa Rica church has the same heart as our church as a whole, to love people as they are! The week was full of fiestas, praise, worship, community projects, laughs, tears and new friendships. I can still hear little Spanish voices screaming Taun-ia foto (Tonya Photo) as they chased me around wanting me to take their picture so they could see it on the back of the camera.
As the years pass and I continue serving on short term mission trips as their mission trip photographer I anticipate growth, change, challenges, joys and victories that only the mission field can bring. Thank you to all my sponsors who make it possible for me to serve, may God richly bless you for your commitment to send me.
