Aly and Michael || First Baptist Church || Morristown TN Wedding Photographer
Aly’s mom contacted me during the winter to chat about booking me for her daughters wedding. I was out of town and actually stuck at a bed and breakfast because of a snow storm. I was curled up by the fire, cup of coffee in my hand and working in my pj’s. (I know such a horrible way to be snowed in!) She told me she had read our reviews and after speaking with me she was ready to book. Now I normally don’t book over the phone without speaking with the bride and groom first, because we are all about relationships. I want to be 100% certain that the couples we book are a perfect fit and lets be honest…not crazy. (ha no bridezilla’s please) I did however break a rule and booked over the phone with Aly’s mom, something just felt right and I’m so happy I broke the rule!
A few months later I actually met Aly and Michael. We sat down over coffee and talked about Jesus and missions for about an hour. I knew right then they were the perfect couple for Your Reflections! You see my faith is important to me, its a lifestyle and I activity serve on the mission field as a photographer. My heart always leaps when I get to work with people that have similar interest, but when those interest are faith based it adds something special to our relationship.
The wedding day arrived and I arrived to their home church to gear up for their wedding. I walked in, everyone was ready to go and excited about the wedding day. We did a few photos and then it was time for the ceremony to begin. Aly and Michael had a total of 32 in their bridal party, I’m still in shock! Normally that doesn’t work out too well, but this bridal party was amazing!
I will say my absolute favorite photo is the one of Michael and Aly praying together (see below). I’ll admit I was teary eyed. Its not that I’ve never seen a bride and groom pray together, but there was something about this moment that was so powerful. Maybe because as I get older and stronger in my faith I realized more and more how important it is for both bride and groom to be on the same page when it comes to their faith. To date, this single photo has been my most popular photo. I’ve never had a photo shared, liked and commented on so many times before on social media before! I’ll take no credit for the moment, I didn’t create it, I only took a photo of it.
The reception was by the lake was simply stunning and so much fun! I was asked to shoot the Wallace family photo at this wedding. The Wallace family photo has been shot for the past 65 years and used as the families Christmas card. What an honor to now be a part of helping make their history treasured as they continue this amazing tradition.
Aly and Michael may you always keep God noth only in the center but the forefront of your marriage. With Him anything life may throw your way, you’ll be able to handle.
