If your first anniversary is coming up and you don’t know what to do for your spouse to make it special, I have some tips on planning your first wedding anniversary that could help.

  1. Get Your Wedding Photographer Involved

Yes you heard right! Your wedding photographer probably offers a one year anniversary sessions and/or boudoir sessions. Both are great gifts. He will appreciate the boudoir session, while you get a day of pampering and both of you will be able to enjoy the anniversary photos for years to come. Its always a good to document this milestone in your lives. Plus you need to get those family photos updated yearly.

If traveling for your anniversary, reach out to your wedding photographer and see if they can meet you at your destination. Travel and great photographs equals a win win for you and extra bonus points if you are the husband and set this one up! Also if you didn’t get an album or a canvas from your wedding day, order one. This is also something that you’ll keep for years to come.

  2. Return To Your First Date Spot

Returning to the place you had your first date always brings back good memories. Normally those first date spot are filled with stories, laugher and maybe a little romance, but always a good reminder of where your love first began.

 3. Travel

Travel, it’s always a good thing. Who says the only trip you get to take in your marriage with just the two of is the honeymoon! No matter if the trip is local at a Bed and Breakfast or if the trip is out of the country, traveling always brings a sense of romance. New sites, smells, sounds and food are a sure thing to rekindle a spark between the two of you.

4. A Night In

Turn off your cell phones, shut down the computers and spend time together. Go to the freezer, pull out that wedding cake you saved and dig in! Call up the caterer that catered your wedding and have them remake your wedding dinner. Spend the night cuddled up by the fire and ignore the rest of the world.

There are several tips on planning your first wedding anniversary I could share, but the most important is making sure you spend that day with the one you love.
