This Whitestone Country Inn proposal had me on pin and needles, but Chad was so calm and collected! Here’s how the story unfolded……
I received a called this past week from Chad and he asked if I was available for a photo shoot on Saturday. I are normally booked for Saturdays because I am a wedding photographer, but so thankful I was open because proposals are one of my favorite things to photograph! Chad explained that he had been dating Mackenzie for five years and was ready to pop the big question “will you marry me” to her. He said that he had planned a romantic evening at Whitestone Country Inn (a bed and breakfast in East TN) and during that evening he planned to propose. Chad told me he had been planning this day with his dad and the wedding coordinators at Whitestone and wanted to have it captured by a professional photographer (thats where I come in).
I arrived at Whitestone just a few minutes before they hopped on the horse and carriage ride Chad had booked. (side note, his mom and dad also had a horse and carriage at their wedding, which is why he wanted to do the carriage ride) I noticed Chad and Mackenzie were standing at the school house building waiting for Wilma (the horse) the arrive. So I walk past them and engage in conversation with some guests, at this point I was already in super ninja mode! I just needed Chad to notice I was there, but Mackenzie still had no clue she was about to get a beautiful ring! They rode around Whitestone’s property and then Chad had requested the perfect spot for carriage driver stop to let them off so he could propose. Still no clue, Mackenzie stepped off the carriage and a few moments later Chad got on one knew and asked “will you married me”. She said YES!
I took the newly engaged couple around the property for their engagement session photos and we laughed so much. I love when couples are fun and just love to engage in conversation with me. Fall was still holding on with everything Mother Nature had to offer at the end of November and it made for a lovely East TN background! After our photo session, Chad had one more surprise up his sleeve! Chad invited their families to celebrate with them over an amazing meal. Chad and Mackenzie walked into the Farmhouse at Whitestone and they whole family greeted them with laughter and tears.
I love when a man takes so much time to plan their proposal, it makes me think that he just may be this thoughtful in their marriage as well. I also love when couples have Christ at the center of their relationship, it’s always the best way to start a marriage with a firm foundation.
Congratulations to the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Lamon!
