Charleston Wedding Venues || Legare Waring House Elopement

I love Legare Waring House, but let’s be honest, Charleston wedding venues NEVER disappoint! My brother lives in South Carolina, so I am there often. I cannot get enough of those swooping grand mossy oak trees! When I have a chance to photograph at Charleston wedding venues I still want to pinch myself. Most of the wedding venues look like something straight out of a Nicholas Sparks movie. (well, of course, some movies were filmed in Charleston).
My good friend Rachel decided to elope to Charleston over having her wedding in our hometown. I am so thankful she decided to elope to Legare Waring House! I had shot at this Charleston wedding venue before. When she asked for recommendations, I knew where to send her! At the top of my list for Charleston wedding venues this place will always be. Old plantation house, the sweeping golden art of mossy oak trees, pond, secret gardens and more.

Our Friendship

Rachel and I have been friends for about ten years. We’ve walked through a lot of life together to say the least, so when she asked me to shoot her wedding, I was beyond excited!
A little about our friendship: (Jason I hope you understand)
  • We have more inside jokes than your average friendship.
  • Everyone gets a nickname (this one is the best and I so want to elaborate, but I won’t )
  • We don’t get to see each other a lot but when we do it takes a while to catch up because our stories are so long!
  • Everything is said dramatically in a Medea or Tammy voice.
  • We text books, not sentences
  • We get in these weird moods of just laughing until we cry

About a week before the wedding she realized that their wedding may be rained out and at first they thought about moving it back to TN. At the last minute they decided to keep it in Charleston and I’m so thankful they did! Yes it rained the whole time I was photographing them (other than the small break for their vows). They were troopers though and we worked around it as much as we could. Thankfully, this was an elopement and if we got wet it was no big deal, so we all left a little soaked, but it was so worth it!
I didn’t get to meet Jason until the wedding (I’m still a little bitter about this, but forgiving). The little I did see of them together and all I’ve heard about him, he’s got Rachel wrapped around his finger and he around hers. It’s been good watching her fall in love. Even though she is still working on the balance of her friendship time (lol sorry), I’m being patient.
I wish you both the best in life and marriage!
